Yes. Most circumcision procedures are performed under local anaesthetic. You can opt to have sedation or even a general anaesthetic if you prefer. If you choose sedation or general anaesthesia it may be a little more expensive and you will be at the hospital for a longer period. You will be able to discuss your anaesthesia with the Urologist at your consultation.

Just after getting circumcised your penis will feel sore, this is perfectly normal and this soreness may last for around seven to ten days. You may resume sexual activities after around four to six weeks. Your Urologist will confirm when you can resume sexual activities. Don’t worry if you experience nocturnal erections but leave them to subside on their own.
Following your circumcision procedure the Surgeon may prescribe antibiotics to help prevent infection. Make sure that you complete the course of antibiotics, even if you feel better sooner than you thought. It may help to keep the penis upright within your underwear. Some men prefer to wear snug underwear whereas some men do better with loose fitting boxer shorts. Try and avoid strenuous exercise for around one month, this is especially true of contact sports.
